Edwin Mauricio Arias
A Return to the Essence of Coffee

High in the mountains where the wind whispers stories among the coffee plants lies Finca El Porvenir. At an altitude ranging from 1,850 to 2,000 meters above sea level, its coffee flourishes with strength, reflecting not only the richness of the land but also the courage of someone who chose to leave the city behind and return to their roots.
Edwin is a man of strong convictions, a professional who heard the call of the countryside and chose to build his life among coffee trees—far from the urban noise, yet close to the purest essence of nature. His farm is a reflection of his identity: diverse, vibrant, and full of life. With 25,000 trees of unique varieties such as Geisha, Bourbon, Caturra, Chirosos, Papayo, and Cenicafé, his coffee is a masterpiece that defies convention and celebrates authenticity.
The process at El Porvenir is a testament to his respect for the land. He uses methods like flotation and manual cherry selection, and avoids water in the depulping stage, ensuring minimal environmental impact and honoring his commitment to sustainability. A 70-hour fermentation and solar drying give each bean a unique sensory complexity, with flavor profiles that transport those who taste it to the landscapes he so deeply loves.
Each cup of his coffee tells his story: that of a man who defied expectations, who chose the land as his home, and who proves with every harvest that true progress isn’t always found in the city, but in the heart of the countryside.
